Course Goal: This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS).
Description of Course:
All Mid-level Management Federal/State/Local/Tribal/Private Sector & Nongovernmental personnel to
include should take ICS-300, including:
Persons serving as command staff, section chiefs, strike team leaders, task force leaders} unit leaders,
division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multiagency coordination system/emergency
operations center staff. *
Approved ICS-300 level training may be developed and conducted by Federal, State, Local and Tribal
agencies as well as private training vendors. However, it must include the content and objectives stated in
the NIMS National Standard Curriculum Training Development Guidance dated March, 2007.
Training developed and conducted by Federal, State and Tribal entities as well as private training vendors
at the ICS-300 level must include at a minimum, the following topical areas (Specific objectives for ICS-
300 training are listed in the National Standard Curriculum Training Development Guidance, March 2007):
* ICS Staffing and organization to include: reporting and working relationships and information flow.
* Transfer of Command
* Unified Command functions in a multijurisdictional or multi-agency incident
* ICS forms
* Resource Management
* Interagency mission planning and procurement
Pre-requisites: ICS-200.A: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, Ver. 2, –OR- NIMS ICS for the Fire Service NFA (NICS-FS), -OR- Incident Command System NFA (ICS) plus NIMS An Introduction (IS-700), -OR- NIMS ICS for Emergency Medical Services (NICS-EMS), -OR- Incident Command System for Emergency Medical Services NFA (ICS/EMS) plus NIMS An Introduction (IS-700), -OR- an equivalent course(s) accredited by the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), National Fire Academy (NFA), National Wildland Coordinating Group (NWCG), US Coast Guard (USCG), or the National Park Service (NPS).
